Meet Josie
Hi! I’m Josie. I’m an artist, author and teacher. I’m an artist who loves artists, because they’re the best people on the planet!And I’m guessing that’s why you’re here… to get inspired, tackle your creative blocks and DO ART. I am here for you!
A little about me: I work out of my home studio in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. Yes, I’ve got all the degrees (a BFA and an MFA if you’re asking) and accolades in fine art.
My art is collected worldwide. I presented a doozie of a TEDx Talk, I’m a published author and you can even see my gigantic artwork in an international airport.
My art work is heavily process based with an unstoppable love of color and material. I enjoy creating a finished piece I’m proud of, but I enjoy the PROCESS of creating that piece even more. In fact, a big part of my artistic journey is filming this process and sharing it on social media, where my art videos have gotten more than 1 billion views and attracted millions of followers.
I’ve been an artist since I was a teenager with a painter dad as my first mentor. However, my process changed a few years ago when I went through a personal tragedy of a grueling series of pregancy losses. After my baby Esther died at birth, my art making process radically shifted. In that very difficult time, I found that I didn’t just “like” making art, I NEEDED it.
The art making process gave me transformation, healing, relief, stress management, and almost mystical relaxation in the flow it provided. This meaningful experience, and the feedback I’ve heard from thousands of my friends on social media, have uncovered my abiding passion: empowering others to explore their own creativity through building a daily practice, finding a state of “flow” and navigating creative resistance.
