There are 8 things you need to consider when you’re pricing your art.

One: cost of materials.

Two:  the time you’ve spent and what you want to get paid hourly.

Three:  your margin, which is the up charge you add on top of your costs.

Four:  overhead costs, like monthly studio rents.

Five:  the value of your expertise, education, and experience, which you can fold into your hourly wage,

Six: don’t forget the time you take to promote your work, spend time on social media, photograph your work, communicate with a collector and get the art into their possession.

Seven:  taxes! They’re real!

Eight:  the gallery upcharge!  if you show in galleries this means you have double your prices across the board because most galleries take 50% and it’s bad practice to undercut your gallery.
